European Green Network officially launches its activities

On 1 January 2026, the founding meeting of the European Green Network (EGN) took place – a European cooperation platform bringing together organisations working to support the sustainable transformation of the economy, the development of green skills, innovation and international knowledge exchange.

The meeting was attended by the three organisations that initiated the establishment of the network: Green Industry Foundation from Poland, Baba Husky Oy from Finland and EDU Smart Training Centre Ltd from Ireland.

The meeting marked the formal beginning of cooperation within EGN and focused on defining the organisational foundations, objectives and operating principles of the new European network. Participants discussed and approved the assumptions of the Network Charter, which sets out EGN’s mission, cooperation structure, membership rules and the basic responsibilities of the network’s governing bodies.

An operating model based on the Network Council and the Secretariat was adopted. This structure is intended to ensure, on the one hand, a partnership-based approach to cooperation among member organisations and, on the other, efficient coordination of joint initiatives and activities.

During the meeting, the first organisational resolutions of EGN were also adopted. Resolution No. 1/1/2026 concerned the rules for granting a mandate to represent the European Green Network, while Resolution No. 2/1/2026 concerned the adoption of the network’s Action Plan for 2026.

The key areas of cooperation identified included monitoring European policies and regulatory developments related to the sustainable economy, coordinating the activities of member organisations, developing EGN’s communication and promotion, building international partnerships and preparing joint project initiatives.

One of the first areas of cooperation was also the possibility of preparing a joint initiative under the LIFE Programme. The EGN Secretariat was mandated to continue conceptual and coordination work in this area.

The founding meeting therefore established the organisational and programme foundations for the further development of the European Green Network. EGN’s ambition is to build lasting European cooperation that combines knowledge exchange with the preparation of concrete projects, tools and solutions supporting the sustainable transformation of the economy.
